What our Guests are saying...
"A cut above"-
My family stayed at the Chanceford for memorial day weekend and it was truly a wonderful experience. Our hosts were so unbelievably thoughtful, both in the accommodations and our interactions.
This B&B was spotless in every way, welcoming and tastefully decorated. Again, this place is super clean. The beds and bedding were comfortable (Shae, you should rename the Conway as the Rip Van Winkle room - we slept well.) There were slippers and robes, a mini fridge with juice boxes, water and adult beverages.
The parlor was gorgeous and we played card games, sipped cocktails, had good conversation with the hosts and other guests. The outdoor area was charming with games in an outdoor sitting area, a fire pit and lovely gardens. The pictures don't do it justice.
Breakfast was over the top delicious. For dishes that were a bit more adult in taste, our hosts made modifications for more child friendly breakfast without even having to ask. Shae's creativity in cooking is outstanding and we enjoyed each day. Ask about about her "Lady Dane".
We ventured into ocean city and Assateague Island and the drive was reasonable.
Lastly, our hosts, Shae and Mat, were so friendly and wonderful to interact with. We really enjoyed meeting them. Planning to stay there again in the near future. - Kate, May 2021
I was specifically looking for a respite from it all & Shae’s Chanceford Hall Bed & Breakfast was a God-send! I was looking for a beautiful place where I could feel pampered and relaxed- get away from it all- and still be with my family. Even before we left our own house Shae made sure to call me ahead and ask if we had any dietary restrictions & what time we planned on arriving.
Under new management yet remaining true to its long lasting 1759 historic roots Chanceford Hall is a majestic home that warms your soul the moment you step out of the car. We were captivated by the tall Maryland trees and landscaping, stucco-siding over brick, & a beautiful fenced-in and private yard with a lovely (not yet filled) brick pool. The room we stayed in had a lovely queen sized bed (with foam mattress) and a very comfortable full sized bed big enough for our 2 little boys ages 5 & 8 to share. We also had an en-suite bathroom with tub and extra cookies, wine glasses, and Andes mints awaiting our arrival.
Shae is an amazing host and I felt so well-taken care of by her from the moment she welcomed our 2 little boys who tumbled into her listing, to the extravagant breakfast she made for us all complete with crystal-glass goblets for mimosas & gold silverware, to the leftover cinnamon muffins and fruit tarts (we couldn’t get enough of) that she delicately wrapped and packed for us upon departure. Shae & Matt really left no detail unaccounted for. The hosts all made us feel perfectly at home like we were longtime friends. It was truly a delightful stay and even my husband (who is very hard to please as he travels for work a lot & oftentimes gets free Hotel lodging for the whole family) was extremely pleased with our stay.
The décor was exquisite and curated for the historic time period during which the house was built (1759). At the same time there were countless modern amenities like Google Home, Nest, multiple Alexa devices you could request to play songs in different rooms from, and a lovely Keurig & coffee + beverages stand. We loved all the complimentary treats like water bottles, disposable coffee mugs, and cute little wine bottles. There’s so many books and games; board and cars not to mention adorable chess sets to entertain an entire family with for days on end. A brisk 0.5 mile walk gets you to the lovely Bryd Park which has gorgeous cotton-candy sunsets. Early before breakfast I jogged into town to deliver a prestamped postcard the owners left for us to use and the quaint little downtown area was just divine. Truly not only a very safe but incredibly charming neighborhood filled with gorgeous colonials & Victorian homes made it a perfect setting for all to run and jog in. If you enjoy seafood but don’t want to break the bank we stopped at Crush-n-Crab in Berlin, Maryland on the way down from NJ and enjoyed a nice dinner right before check-in. Assateague National Island State Park is only a 35 minute drive from the listing and of course we saw the wild ponies there. Cannot write enough amazing things about our visit to Chanceford Hall and hope to visit again soon. Thanks Shae & Matt! - Linda, April 2021
This was my first time at a real bed and breakfast, and the bar is set so high now. My girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay and can’t recommend it enough. The grounds were impeccable, so many yard games, great historical pieces and antiques all throughout, lots of great stories from Shae, and an excellent 3- course breakfast made by the hostess herself complete with mimosas. Cute little historical East coast town with good food, live music, and cute shops and less than half hour from eastern shore beaches. - Steve, May 2021
